Josh Solomon

Guitar/Vocals

Josh Solomon's music has been emanating into the world since terrorizing his mother, wildly banging pots and pans and crooning loudly in the kitchen. But over the course of Josh's life, what started as simply passionate playing soon became more calculating. Toying on his parents' living room piano and writing musicals for he and his cousins to perform ultimately led to Josh's ninth birthday present, a four string Washburn electric bass guitar, and the acquisition of cousin Joey's electric guitar on which he began to compose rock music. Since the seventh grade, he's written hundreds of songs. Songs about girls, his own stupidity and their exquisite combination. Songs about politics and war, family and love. In the end, us Empty Pockets think we've gotten some of his best tunes so far, complete with real melodies, candid lyrics and strong hooks sure to keep you tappin' your toes well after you're done with us. Yet, if the Chicago Cubs were to approach Josh with a contract, he just might drop everything to play first base. But while he's waiting for Jim Hendry to call (and we're pretty sure they've got it covered), it's clear that Josh's best bet to play at Wrigley is via the honesty of his songwriting and the warm rip of his rockabilly Fender Strat.
